Marie Selby Gardens’ role is to provide an oasis of inspiration and tranquility, while furthering the understanding and appreciation of plants, especially epiphytes. They believe that as you visit the Gardens, you will take away a better understanding and greater appreciation of plants and their value in our lives.
Marie Selby Gardens has an extensive summer volunteer program for teens. Orientation for new volunteers will take place on Saturday, May 10, from 10:00-1:00. All are invited to attend. In addition to all the regular volunteer jobs available at Selby, in the summer we need counselors for four weeks of summer camp for young kids. Summer volunteering is a good way to earn a big chunk of your Bright Futures hours.
To read about all of the opportunities available, please go to our website teen page at http://www.selby.org/get-involved/teen-volunteer-programs. There are a few parental permission forms on that page for downloading.
In addition to summer volunteering, Selby welcomes teens to volunteer for our special events during the year, all of which take place on weekends or at night. Our biggest event, Lights in Bloom, runs December 19-23 and 26-30 from 5pm to 9pm. No prior experience necessary.
On our website, you can subscribe to our monthly volunteer Eblast, Inside Dirt, that tells you about all upcoming special events. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer.
